Dear Friends,

As the holidays come quickly, it is a great time to look back at this strange year.  For many of us we have had our plans and goals upended.  At the beginning of last year, we were set to have a record year, but COVID and the resulting shut down in March brought our business (and many of yours) down to a grinding halt.  Although many of us were shut down and some have not returned to full strength, we need to remember our blessings and know that steel is tested with fire.

Once we come out of this pandemic, we will be stronger, as people and as businesses. We also have been forced to spend more time in close proximity with our immediate family.  We are getting to know and appreciate your family, our children, and our spouses.  Many of us have gotten to play board games and card games together.  The unexpected event of kids being board of playing video games was a pleasant surprise.  We actually talked to each other and had conversations. I have had the pleasant experience of listening to my kids political and philosophical statements, rants, and discussions.  I enjoyed making them stretch to explain what they meant and had them apply their ideas to the real world.  I was impressed at their ability to defend their positions, stick to their guns, while still being willing to listen to a different point of view (whether actual of manufactured).  It is great to see the lights turning on in their heads. We still have many blessings to be grateful for.

We need to start getting back to the gratitude of the season.  2020 is ending and 2021 is going to start, so we need to get our goals refocused and ready for implementation. The near future is looking promising with the vaccines getting approved and started to be available to all who want them by summer.  It is my sincere hope that we can all get back to a new normal in which we can see each other without having to wear mask all the time and sanitize our hands until they are as dry as a Laredo summer. We should be ready to implement steps to get us back to the new normal, but at the same time we should hold on to some of the lessons we learned from being locked down and pandemic protocols.  We should continue to wash our hands frequently to avoid spreading disease, spending time together with family and just talking and playing games is fun.

There is always a silver lining, we just need to keep an eye on it.  As for me and my law firm team, we plan to increase our ability to serve our clients.  We are looking at hiring additional staff to better serve you.  We also plan to refine our internal systems and processes to help us to be able to help more people with even better quality services.  I also plan to continue to make time for family togetherness and for card games and board games.  I am also looking forward to getting back to camping with my scouts. My wish for you is that you have a great holiday with your immediate family (and virtually with your extended family).  That 2021 takes you to the next level, in your relationship with God, your family and friends and that your business growth takes hold.  Until next time.
